The Role

We are looking for an experienced

CNC Lathe Setter/Operator to join our busy manufacturing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating CNC lathes to produce precision-engineered components to drawing specifications, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision components.
  • Load and prove out programs where required.
  • Select and install tooling, fixtures and workholding equipment.
  • Produce first-off components and carry out in-process inspections.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Use measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish to customer requirements.
  • Monitor machine performance and make offset adjustments where necessary.
  • Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
  • Carry out routine machine maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Follow all health, safety and quality procedures.
  • Work effectively as part of the production team to meet delivery targets.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC lathes within a precision engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Competent in using precision measuring equipment.
  • Good understanding of machining principles and tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable with a positive, flexible attitude.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Siemens or Haas controls.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
  • Experience machining a range of materials including steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
