We’re working with a well-established, high-performing FMCG manufacturing business in Port Talbot who are looking to strengthen their engineering team with the addition of an Electrical Engineer. This is a hands-on, shift-based role where you’ll play a key part in keeping production running efficiently, minimising downtime, and ensuring the reliability of critical manufacturing equipment. You’ll be joining a fast-paced environment where engineers are trusted to take ownership, think proactively, and respond quickly to challenges on site.

Shift Pattern

  • This role operates on a Panama (Continental) shift pattern, rotating between days and nights: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off
  • Alternating weekly between days and nights
  • This offers a strong work-life balance with regular extended time off.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site electrical systems and machinery
  • Responding to electrical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime
  • Diagnosing faults and implementing robust, long-term fixes
  • Working with PLCs and drives to fault-find and support production equipment
  • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and suggesting solutions
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and reports
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety and site compliance standards
  • Working closely with production and other departments to keep operations running smoothly

Qualifications

  • MUST have at least an NVQ Level 3/ City & Guilds Level 3 or HNC/ HND in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience in an electrical maintenance role within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong background in electrical fault finding and breakdown response
  • Experience working with PLCs (Siemens preferred)
  • Experience working with drives (essential)
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
  • Good communication skills with the ability to liaise across departments
