We are currently working in partnership with a forward-thinking logistics organization who are looking to appoint a Night Transport Planner to support their 24/7 transport operation. This is a key role within the business, responsible for overseeing overnight transport activity, ensuring deliveries run smoothly, and maintaining high standards of service, efficiency, and compliance.

Role Responsibilities
- Oversee all overnight transport operations, ensuring deliveries and collections are completed in line with schedules
- Monitor live vehicle activity using internal systems, ensuring routes are followed and performance is maintained
- Act as the main point of contact for drivers during the night shift, providing support and resolving issues in real time
- Manage and communicate any delays, disruptions, or operational challenges, ensuring minimal impact on service
- Provide accurate updates and ETAs where required, maintaining strong communication across operations
- Ensure efficient use of fleet resources, supporting effective routing and minimising downtime or unnecessary mileage
- Support vehicle readiness for the following day, including coordination of refuelling, charging, and availability
- Monitor and report on fleet performance, utilisation, and operational efficiency
- Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, including driver hours, working time, and safety requirements
- Conduct driver debriefs and ensure all incidents, defects, or compliance issues are reported and escalated appropriately
- Maintain a strong focus on safety and operational standards across all activities
- Provide a clear and structured handover to the day team, outlining overnight performance, issues, and priorities
- Work closely with planning and operations teams to ensure continuity between shifts
- Support and guide drivers and team members, promoting a professional and efficient working environment
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and service delivery
Qualifications
- Must have previous experience within a transport planning or transport operations role
- Experience working within a logistics, distribution, or fleet environment
- Strong understanding of transport compliance, including driver hours and safety requirements
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when dealing with drivers and operational teams
- Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to resolving issues
- Confident using transport or planning systems (TMS experience advantageous)
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of overnight operations
