Deputy Fleet Engineer – Middlewich – Permanent Position
Monday – Friday Days, occasional Saturday’s as and when required.
07:30 to 17:30
You must have a valid HGV C+E Licence for this role
Your Pay
An established specialist logistics and transport provider has a rare opportunity to bring in an experienced and talented Senior HGV Technician to work closely alongside the existing fleet engineer. You will learn about our complex and bespoke equipment (Trucks and Trailers), the standards required by our own and third party workshops/service providers as well as being involved in the modification and development of new and existing equipment to meet our ever changing customer requirements.
Your Job
- Agree workshop plans and capacity with the Maintenance desk for up to 6 weeks ahead.
- Supervise and work alongside a team of 3 existing fitters/technicians at own workshop facilities.
- Carry out pre work inspection to create worksheets and agree with fleet engineer any major works/costs as required.
- Carry out post work inspection and quality check identifying any issues and agreeing rectification plans with fleet engineer.
- Report daily to the maintenance desk team on progress to plan and any deviations accordingly.
- Supervise and monitor parts stores.
- Carry out Quality inspections as directed by fleet engineer for third party providers.
- Cover for Fleet Engineer for periods of absence or holidays.
- Attend weekly ‘huddle’ meeting to discuss issues and future maintenance programs.
- There may be occasions when early starts or late finishes are required. Saturday.
- There will also be a need to possibly take out of hours phone calls to cover breakdowns etc.
Qualifications
- You are likely to have more than 10 years’ experience in a senior HGV technician role and be able to demonstrate management of a team of fitters/technicians.
- Valid C+E driving licence.
- NVQ/City & Guilds Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or similar.
- Good and clear communication
- An eye for detail and expect the highest standards of work.
- A can-do attitude and always ‘look to find a way’ to achieve your objectives.
- Understand the Law as it applies to your role and what is expected as a result.
- See Compliance as a MUST HAVE.
- It would be an advantage to be an IRTE member and hold a Transport CPC.
