The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing planned and reactive maintenance across the factory, ensuring machinery, equipment, and site systems are safe, reliable, and fit for purpose. You will take responsibility for preventative maintenance schedules, breakdown response, machine repairs, contractor liaison, and continuous improvement across the maintenance function. The role is heavily mechanical, with strong electrical fault-finding knowledge also required. This is a practical, hands-on Maintenance Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing planned preventative maintenance across machinery and site equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and emergency machine failures
- Overhauling, repairing, and improving machines and equipment
- Ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and fit for purpose
- Fault finding across mechanical and electrical systems
- Working on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, compressors, and associated equipment
- Supporting production teams to minimise downtime
- Managing maintenance priorities and organising workloads effectively
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams
- Promoting safe working practices across the site
- Completing maintenance records and reports accurately
- Supporting process improvements and equipment reliability
- Carrying out or overseeing welding and fabrication work where required
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Maintenance Engineer, or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
- Strong background in industrial maintenance or manufacturing maintenance
- Good mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
- Experience with preventative maintenance and reactive breakdowns
- Confident fault-finding skills across plant machinery and production equipment
- Experience with pumps, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and compressors
- Knowledge of 3-phase electrics and electrical troubleshooting
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Strong communication and organisation skills
- Ability to prioritise workload in a busy production environment
- A logical, methodical approach to problem-solving
- Computer literacy; SAP experience would be an advantage
- PLC knowledge, such as Siemens or Mitsubishi, would be beneficial but is not essential
- Robotics maintenance experience would also be an advantage
- A recognised engineering apprenticeship, HNC, or similar qualification would be desirable
- You must have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship
- A driving licence would be beneficial due to the site location
The Package
- £45,000 per annum
- Bonus of up to 10% depending on individual and company performance
- 33 days holiday per annum
- 40 hours per week
- Flexible daytime hours, usually 7.30am to 4.00pm
- Hours may be slightly amended by agreement
- Full-time, permanent role
