This Senior CAM Programmer role is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled programming professional with strong 5‑axis machining knowledge to step into a key position within a rapidly expanding precision engineering environment. The business specialises in the design, manufacture and assembly of high‑precision components and assemblies for some of the biggest British OEMs. Working with advanced 5‑axis machining technologies and aerospace‑grade materials, you will play a central role in developing efficient, accurate and high‑quality manufacturing processes across a range of complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Create, develop and optimise CAM programs using Siemens NX CAM software for complex multi‑axis CNC machining operations.
- Define machining strategies for precision components manufactured from Titanium, Inconel, Aluminium, Stainless Steel and other specialist materials.
- Support New Product Introduction projects from concept through to production, working closely with Production, Engineering and Machine Shop teams.
- Validate programs using simulation and verification tools, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality machining processes.
- Select cutting tools, fixtures, feeds, speeds and machining methods to maximise productivity, cycle times and component quality.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming challenges, mentor junior programmers and support continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
- Extensive CAM programming experience within a precision engineering, motorsport, aerospace, defence, medical or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in 5‑axis CNC machining, with proven experience programming complex low‑volume, high‑precision components.
- Advanced knowledge of Siemens NX CAM, ideally NX10 or later, with the ability to work from complex engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Strong understanding of Fanuc‑controlled CNC machinery, cutting tools, machining strategies, feeds, speeds and material removal techniques.
- Experience working with aerospace‑grade materials such as Titanium and Inconel, alongside a strong continuous improvement mindset.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving and leadership skills, with previous experience mentoring or supporting technical teams.
