Buy the machined and metallic components that go onto cars built to win. This is fast, low-volume, high-judgement procurement for a leading motorsport and advanced engineering business in Banbury. You will join the commodity buying team and own machined and fabricated components from sourcing through to delivery, at the pace motorsport demands. One week you might need ten precision parts ready for a build. You will know which supplier can deliver, what the part should cost, and how to get it there on time.

What you'll do

  • Source machined and metallic components from quote to delivery, against tight motorsport timelines
  • Read engineering drawings and hold credible technical conversations with engineers and suppliers
  • Apply should-cost thinking to judge quotes on material, machine time and process
  • Manage low-volume, fast-changing demand using ERP and Excel to keep purchasing data accurate
  • Balance workload across a preferred supplier base and bring in new suppliers where they add value
  • Anticipate supply, quality and lead-time risks early, and act before they bite

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience buying machined or fabricated components in motorsport, automotive or advanced engineering
  • Confidence reading engineering drawings and talking machining processes with suppliers
  • Should-cost knowledge to inform sourcing and negotiation
