Frewen College is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school specialising in dyslexia and co-occurring Specific Learning Difficulties. We are seeking an inspiring Head of Music to lead, develop, and champion music as a vibrant and inclusive part of school life.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled Music Educator to take strategic and practical responsibility for music across the school. You will lead the curriculum, inspire pupils of all abilities, and oversee a rich programme of performances, ensembles, and instrumental tuition.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and deliver a high-quality, progressive Music curriculum.
- Teach engaging, well differentiated lessons tailored to students with dyslexia and SpLDs.
- Direct ensembles and organise concerts, services, and performances.
- Coordinate visiting peripatetic Music Teachers and external music exams.
- Promote wide participation in music across the school community.
- Manage music resources, facilities, and departmental budget.
- Act as a Form Tutor and contribute to the wider pastoral life of the school.
You will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in Music.
- Have experience teaching Music in a school setting.
- Be an accomplished Musician with the ability to lead ensembles and performances.
- Be well organised, energetic, and inspiring, with excellent communication skills.
- Be passionate about inclusive education and committed to student wellbeing.
- Experience of curriculum leadership, organising large-scale musical events, or working with peripatetic Teachers would be advantageous.
- A warm, supportive school community with small class sizes.
- Students who are creative, enthusiastic, and responsive.
