This role sits within Freuds’ social team – a specialist team of 15 within Freud Communications. The team exists to service all clients within the agency on both a consulting and paid basis – ensuring all teams are kept abreast of the latest social best practice. Services provided include content strategy and channel planning, campaign activation, visible leadership and paid media management. The team consists of 7 specialists plugging into many integrated accounts on both a retained and project basis, including Mars, Danone, You Can Adopt, Samsung and Prosus.
As a Senior Account Director in our Social Media team, you’ll be the heartbeat of client relationships, lead teams that deliver compelling social campaigns, and a trusted voice on the role of social within our wider agency. You’ll lead a portfolio of high-profile clients – in particular across corporate, government, and healthcare – ensuring their purpose is powerfully expressed and meaningfully activated across all social channels. From running LinkedIn leadership programmes that elevate executive visibility to launching TikTok profiles aimed at driving conversation, you’ll bring versatility and a proactive, solutions-driven mindset to decode briefs, read between the lines, and adapt team outputs to deliver great work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of insight-driven, social-first strategies that push creative boundaries while meeting client objectives and best-in-class industry standards.
- Oversee multi-platform campaigns across LinkedIn, Meta, TikTok, YouTube and beyond - ensuring tailored, effective content per channel.
- Champion compelling content strategy and brand storytelling, ensuring every post builds brand love, delivers relevance, and resonates culturally.
- Coach senior executives on building personal brands, unlocking opportunities in thought leadership, employee advocacy and executive visibility.
- Set and maintain exceptional creative standards - from campaign ideation to video content, graphic design, copy and reporting.
- Drive community engagement strategies that build loyalty, spark meaningful conversation and safeguard brand reputation.
- Evaluate, optimise and report campaigns with clarity, translating data into tangible results and demonstrating ROI to clients.
Agency Integration
- Partner closely with PR teams to ensure social strategies are fully aligned with overarching communications plans – translating key messaging into platform-specific content that amplifies reach, reinforces reputation, and drives engagement.
- Collaborate with our Data & Insight team to utilise social listening tools and trend monitoring to inform and evolve strategies.
- Collaborate with the design team to bring social ideas to life – ensuring every asset is not only visually compelling but also strategically crafted to meet client objectives, maximise impact, and resonate with audiences across diverse platforms.
- Provide paid media guidance when required, working with our in-house specialists across strategy, targeting, creative optimisation, and performance analytics.
Identifying Trends and Opportunities
- Stay on top of platform algorithm changes and social trends to optimise performance and spot new opportunities.
- Keep clients ahead of the curve, advising on platform developments, regulatory considerations and digital best practices.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and lead junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation, curiosity and excellence.
- As a client-team lead, use your experience to navigate client business, internal and external politics, budgetary constraints and social needs to help solve client problems.
- Contribute to new business objectives and draw up scopes of work for both new and existing clients.

Experience, skills and qualifications
- Proven experience at mid/senior level in a social or digital role, ideally within an agency setting, working on corporate, government or non-profit accounts.
- A sharp understanding of the social landscape - platforms, trends, influencers, and what makes content cut through.
- Strategic thinking combined with creative courage.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify the complex and galvanise teams and clients alike.
- Proven experience shaping/elevating senior executives’ personal brands, crafting thought leadership strategies and content that go beyond traditional corporate channels to build authentic influence and visibility.
- Understanding of paid social fundamentals.
