The Role
We're looking for a SHEQ Manager to support the Head of SHEQ in maintaining and developing the company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental management systems. The role will focus on ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational teams to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality services. This role can be based out of Crawley or our London office, with flexibility to travel between both locations as needed. Freshwave operates sites across the UK, and regular site visits will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Accreditations & Certifications
- Support the Head of SHEQ in managing IMS certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001
- Manage additional accreditations: Safe Contractor, RISQS, EcoVadis, Constructionline
- Policy & Process Management
- Develop, review, and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, and processes
- Provide cross-functional support to ensure compliance
- Lead health and safety aspects of supplier onboarding
- Conduct site inspections and maintain approved supplier records
- Report findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Auditing & Compliance
- Conduct internal audits and lead incident investigations
- Define and monitor corrective/preventive actions
- Support resolution of customer non-conformances
- Leadership & Engagement
- Chair the Health & Safety Committee
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Deliver SHEQ presentations, workshops, and meetings
- Documentation & Reporting
- Review site documentation and provide feedback
- Maintain trackers and report client SHEQ KPIs
- Compile monthly dashboards for Head of SHEQ
- Training Management
- Oversee SHEQ intranet and training platform to ensure compliance with mandatory training
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, including HASAWA, MHSWR, and CDM regulations
- Familiarity with ISO standards, Safe Contractor, and other industry accreditations
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in construction or telecommunications
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage company policies, procedures, and processes
- Experience with site inspections, supplier onboarding, and subcontractor compliance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident decision-maker with a proactive and resilient approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management systems such as SharePoint
Professional Qualifications
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (minimum)
- Working towards or hold NEBOSH Diploma Level 6
- ISO Internal Auditor qualification with practical auditing experience desirable
