A client in the professional services sector is seeking an Investments Reporting Requirements Analyst to join the team for 12 weeks. You will lead the definition and documentation of reporting requirements to support a new stage-gated strategic investments process, ensuring accurate tracking and visibility from approval through to execution. You will work closely with Finance, Investments, and Finance Systems teams, translating business needs into detailed technical specifications that enable the build of future-state reporting on a finance data warehouse.
Responsibilities:
- Document current Investments reporting processes, including outputs, stakeholders, frequency, and data sources.
- Inventory existing dashboards, reports, KPI definitions, and ad-hoc analysis across Investments and Finance.
- Engage stakeholders to understand reporting needs, dependencies, and pain points.
- Identify gaps between current reporting and requirements of the new stage-gated investment process.
- Develop a clear scope document outlining data entities, KPIs, reporting cadence, audiences, and outputs.
- Define a pragmatic, tactical classification and data capture approach to enable accurate reporting within existing constraints.
- Translate business and reporting requirements into detailed, build-ready technical specifications.
- Define data structures, hierarchies, joins, calculation logic, and refresh cadences.
- Document KPI taxonomies and calculation methodologies with full clarity and no ambiguity.
- Map end-to-end data lineage, including source systems, transformations, and consumption layers.
- Resolve edge cases, data exceptions, and ambiguities with stakeholders during specification development.
- Collaborate with Finance Systems teams to ensure specifications are suitable for development and implementation.
- Support handover into build phase and provide clarification during development as needed.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in requirements gathering, business analysis, and technical specification writing within a consultancy or contractor capacity.
- Strong finance domain knowledge.
