A client in the UK grocery retail industry is seeking a strategy consultant to join the Category Management team for up to 18 months. You will join a high-calibre transformation squad delivering an end-to-end commercial change programme across range, pricing, promotions and in-store space. Reporting to a Principal, you will lead day-to-day delivery for a category-focused workstream, supporting continuity during a period of cover and helping embed new ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Lead market and customer insights to inform category strategy, range architecture and value proposition
- Develop and deliver plans across ranging, pricing, promotions and space allocation, translating analysis into clear commercial actions
- Support supplier negotiations and commercial discussions, working closely with internal stakeholders to land outcomes
- Manage a small team of consultants/analysts, driving high-quality outputs, cadence and stakeholder updates
Requirements
- 3–6 years' experience in a top-tier strategy consultancy (MBB+)
- Demonstrable experience in a UK grocery consulting and/or UK grocery retail commercial roles
- Strong hands-on capability in category management topics: ranging, pricing and promotions (essential)
- Confident stakeholder management and structured problem-solving; comfortable operating autonomously at junior manager/manager level
