An adult social care organisation is currently exploring a new proposition and is looking for a Commercial Advisor to explore partnership or acquisition opportunities, assess feasibility, and shape the right commercial approach. This piece of work will report into the strategy lead and is part of a wider project led by their internal team, including business case development, proposition design, and stakeholder engagement.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in structuring commercial partnerships and/or acquisitions, ideally within the education, training, or digital learning sectors. They should be able to work independently, with strong commercial acumen, legal awareness, and a pragmatic approach to scoping and evaluating delivery models.
Responsibilities- Lead commercial dialogue with potential training partners or acquisition targets
- Define and evaluate partnership/acquisition models based on these discussions
- Develop evaluation criteria for partner selection and deal structuring
- Compare different strategic options (e.g., partnership vs acquisition), outlining pros/cons and feasibility
- Provide legal and procurement guidance at a high level, including IP, licensing, and contracting considerations
- Propose potential commercial structures (e.g., revenue share, licensing models)
- Extensive experience in structuring and evaluating third-party partnerships and acquisitions, ideally in L&D or digital education
- Strong understanding of legal and IP considerations, including ownership rights and licensing
- Expertise in business model development, commercial viability assessment, and revenue/pricing structures
- Knowledge of public sector procurement processes and regulatory frameworks
- Experience assessing partnership vs acquisition routes from commercial, legal, and operational angles
- Familiarity with technology integration and operational delivery models
- Start date: ASAP
- Duration: 3-4 months, with potential for extension
- Day rate: Up to £1,000 LTD depending on experience
- Location: Remote, with occasional on-site or in-person sessions in Central London
