A client in the retail industry is seeking a Retail Strategy Consultant to join the team for an initial 3-month engagement, with potential to extend. You will lead and support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across multiple workstreams, working closely with senior stakeholders on both the consultancy and client side. You will report into a senior engagement lead and play a key role in driving performance, customer-centricity and commercial impact across the client's transformation agenda.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support strategy development and implementation across several retail workstreams, including customer, commercial and operational topics.
- Own day-to-day delivery of specific projects, ensuring milestones are met and outputs are of a high consulting standard.
- Work across key strategic areas such as customer loyalty, CRM, media and marketing strategy, category strategy, data use cases (personalisation, recommendation engines) and tool re-organisation.
- Conduct robust analysis of customer, trading and marketing data to generate insights and define clear, actionable recommendations.
- Translate strategy into practical implementation plans, including roadmaps, operating models, KPIs and governance.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional client teams (e.g. marketing, digital, data, commercial) to ensure alignment and delivery.
Requirements
- 4-8 years' experience in top-tier or highly regarded strategy consulting, or in a strategic role within a leading retailer.
- Strong track record in retail strategy, with experience spanning strategy development and hands-on implementation.
- Exposure to at least one of the following areas: customer loyalty, CRM, media/marketing strategy, category strategy, data use cases (e.g. personalisation, recommendation systems), or tool/tech re-organisation.
- Strong slide-writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear, concise and compelling narratives.
