Overview
In this role you will join Freshfields’ leading antitrust litigation team in London, handling high-profile competition cases and cross-border matters. You will work closely with leading barristers, economists and expert witnesses to advance complex antitrust disputes, including cartel damages and collective proceedings. The role blends litigation skill building with client-facing and business development activities, contributing to the team’s market-leading position. You will have the chance to influence major UK and EU competition matters while developing with a global investigations and class actions practice.

Responsibilities
- Draft complex witness statements, expert reports and pleadings
- Run project processes on significant cases and work towards being lead associate
- Develop litigation skills and collaborate with top barristers, economists and experts
- Draft letters/emails to clients and opposing sides
- Manage document reviews and disclosure projects
- Attend mediation/settlement discussions and draft settlement agreements
- Enhance financial skills by working with expert economists
- Produce business development plans with the BD Manager
- Delegate to and mentor junior associates and trainees
- Participate in seminars/trainings for clients and colleagues
- Establish profile and relationships with partners and clients in the market
Key requirements
- Qualified lawyer qualified in England & Wales or a common law jurisdiction
- 2-4 PQE (ideal)
- Strong technical and commercial abilities
- Intellectually able with top class academics
- Tenacious and enthusiastic approach to exceeding client expectations
- Able to work effectively in a team and supervise junior lawyers/trainees
- Highly effective communicator (oral and written)
- Innovation-centered approach to client work and business development, including comfort with using approved AI tech and supervising others who do so
- Willingness to take responsibility and manage a challenging workload
