This role is ideal for a professional who understands Agile methodologies, product development lifecycles, stakeholder collaboration, and the importance of maintaining a clear, actionable product backlog.

The Product Owner will serve as a key link between business stakeholders, development teams, quality assurance professionals, designers, and project managers. The primary responsibility will be to translate business objectives and customer needs into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlog items that guide the development team toward delivering measurable value.

The successful candidate will ensure that product requirements are clearly documented, regularly reviewed, and aligned with business priorities. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, validate completed work, and confirm that delivered features meet the agreed acceptance criteria.

This position requires strong analytical thinking, communication skills, organizational abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Candidates who enjoy solving problems, managing competing priorities, improving workflows, and helping teams deliver customer-focused solutions are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Create, maintain, organize, and continuously refine the product backlog to ensure that development teams have a clear understanding of upcoming work.

Prioritize backlog items based on business value, customer impact, technical dependencies, urgency, and strategic objectives.

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify product requirements, feature enhancements, defect fixes, and improvement opportunities.

Ensure backlog items are sufficiently detailed, estimated where appropriate, and ready for development.

Remove outdated, duplicated, or unnecessary backlog items to maintain an efficient and actionable backlog.

Support backlog refinement sessions and ensure that priorities remain aligned with changing business needs.

  2. Translate business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable user stories.

Define measurable acceptance criteria that explain the expected behavior and conditions for successful completion.

Ensure user stories follow agreed quality standards and provide sufficient context for developers and testers.

Clarify functional requirements, business rules, dependencies, assumptions, and potential edge cases.

Work with technical teams to break down complex requirements into manageable development tasks.

Maintain consistency between documented requirements, acceptance criteria, and intended business outcomes.

  3. Review completed product features against agreed acceptance criteria and business requirements.

Coordinate with quality assurance teams to support functional testing, user acceptance testing, and defect resolution.

Confirm that delivered functionality meets the required quality standards before formal acceptance.

Identify gaps between expected and actual outcomes and communicate necessary corrections to the relevant teams.

Document acceptance decisions, outstanding issues, and relevant stakeholder feedback.

Support release readiness reviews by verifying that key requirements have been addressed.

  4. Work closely with business representatives, customers, product managers, developers, testers, and other stakeholders.

Facilitate discussions to clarify requirements, resolve conflicting priorities, and establish a shared understanding of product objectives.

Communicate backlog priorities, changes in scope, delivery expectations, and acceptance decisions effectively.

Gather feedback from stakeholders and incorporate relevant insights into future product improvements.

Manage expectations by explaining trade-offs, dependencies, and the potential impact of changing requirements.

Build productive working relationships across teams to encourage transparency and collaborative decision-making.

  5. Participate in sprint planning, daily discussions when needed, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.

Ensure the development team understands the objectives and priorities of each sprint.

Support the definition of sprint goals and help clarify requirements throughout the development cycle.

Work with Scrum Masters or Agile delivery leads to identify impediments related to unclear requirements or changing priorities.

Monitor backlog readiness and support predictable, value-driven product delivery.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen Agile practices and team effectiveness.

  6. Maintain accurate documentation of product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog changes.

Use product management and project tracking tools to monitor progress and maintain visibility.

Provide updates on backlog health, requirement readiness, acceptance status, and unresolved issues.

Prepare clear summaries for stakeholders to support informed decisions.

Ensure that changes to requirements are documented and communicated to affected teams.

Maintain appropriate traceability between business objectives, requirements, delivered features, and acceptance outcomes.

  7. Identify opportunities to improve backlog quality, acceptance processes, and cross-functional collaboration.

Analyze recurring defects, requirement gaps, and delivery challenges to recommend practical improvements.

    Encourage feedback-driven development and customer-focused decision-making.

Support the adoption of consistent documentation standards and effective Agile working practices.

Participate in retrospectives and help implement actions that improve delivery efficiency and product quality.
