Job Summary

Fresher Jobs Hub is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Analyst – Customer Risk Review to support financial crime prevention, regulatory compliance, and customer due diligence activities. The successful candidate will help identify, assess, and mitigate potential money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other suspicious financial activities by reviewing customer profiles, transaction histories, account behaviour, and relevant documentation.

In this role, the AML Analyst will conduct customer risk assessments, investigate unusual account activity, review Know Your Customer (KYC) information, and ensure that customer relationships are assessed according to applicable regulatory requirements and internal compliance policies. The position requires strong analytical thinking, sound judgement, confidentiality, and the ability to document findings accurately.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with compliance teams, financial crime investigators, risk management professionals, and other relevant departments to support effective risk management and maintain the integrity of financial operations.

This opportunity may suit candidates with backgrounds in finance, banking, accounting, business administration, law, risk management, or compliance who are interested in developing a career in financial crime prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Risk Assessment: Conduct customer risk reviews by analysing customer profiles, business activities, geographic exposure, account behaviour, and other relevant risk indicators.
  • Know Your Customer (KYC) Reviews: Review customer identification documents, business records, beneficial ownership details, source-of-funds information, and other supporting documentation.
  • Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD): Perform enhanced reviews for high-risk customers, politically exposed persons (PEPs), customers associated with higher-risk jurisdictions, and other profiles requiring additional scrutiny.
  • Transaction Analysis: Examine transaction histories and account activity to identify unusual patterns, inconsistent behaviour, potentially suspicious transfers, and other indicators of financial crime.
  • Risk Classification: Assign or recommend customer risk ratings based on established policies, risk assessment frameworks, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Sanctions and Watchlist Screening: Review potential matches against relevant sanctions lists, politically exposed person databases, adverse media sources, and other approved screening systems.
  • Suspicious Activity Identification: Investigate unusual customer behaviour, assess available evidence, and elevate potentially suspicious activity to the appropriate compliance or financial crime investigation team.
  • Customer Information Verification: Identify missing, outdated, inconsistent, or conflicting customer information and coordinate the collection or verification of additional records.
  • Case Documentation: Prepare clear, accurate, and evidence-based case notes describing the review process, risk indicators, supporting information, findings, and recommended actions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Support compliance with applicable anti-money laundering laws, counter-terrorist financing requirements, sanctions regulations, data protection rules, and internal procedures.
  • Periodic and Event-Driven Reviews: Complete scheduled customer reviews and additional assessments triggered by significant changes in customer circumstances, transactions, ownership, or risk exposure.
  • Escalation and Reporting: Escalate high-risk findings, unresolved screening alerts, suspicious activity, and potential policy breaches through established reporting channels.
  • Quality Assurance: Review completed assessments for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to internal quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with KYC operations, compliance officers, fraud teams, relationship managers, and other stakeholders to resolve outstanding review issues.
  • Process Improvement: Identify recurring documentation gaps, inefficient review practices, and opportunities to improve risk assessment procedures and case management workflows.
  • Confidentiality and Data Security: Handle sensitive customer information responsibly and ensure that confidential investigations and restricted information are protected.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • A foundational understanding of anti-money laundering principles, KYC procedures, customer due diligence, and financial crime risks.
