Job Summary
Fresher Jobs Hub is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Transport Planner – Travel Demand Analysis to support the development of efficient, sustainable, and future-ready transportation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing travel patterns, evaluating transportation demand, interpreting mobility data, and developing evidence-based recommendations to improve transport networks and accessibility.
This role involves working with transport datasets, demographic information, traffic surveys, travel behaviour studies, and forecasting models to understand how people move between locations and how transportation requirements may change over time. The Transport Planner will contribute to strategic transport planning, infrastructure development, public transportation improvements, and sustainable mobility initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities, an understanding of transportation planning principles, and the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful transport projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct travel demand analysis using traffic counts, passenger surveys, journey data, and other transportation datasets.
- Analyse existing travel patterns, commuting behaviour, trip distribution, and transportation usage across different geographic areas.
- Develop and maintain travel demand forecasting models to estimate future transportation requirements.
- Evaluate population growth, employment trends, land-use development, and demographic changes affecting travel demand.
- Assess the capacity and performance of existing road networks, public transportation systems, and other mobility infrastructure.
- Identify congestion patterns, transport accessibility challenges, and potential improvements to network efficiency.
- Prepare transport demand assessments to support infrastructure planning, development proposals, and strategic transport studies.
- Analyse travel behaviour across different modes, including private vehicles, buses, trains, cycling, and walking.
- Support the development of sustainable transport strategies that encourage public transportation and active travel.
- Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and transport modelling tools to analyse spatial travel patterns.
- Prepare technical reports, analytical summaries, presentations, and planning recommendations.
- Collaborate with engineers, urban planners, government authorities, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Review transportation policies, planning standards, and development proposals to assess their potential impact on travel demand.
- Monitor transport performance indicators and recommend improvements based on data-driven findings.
- Maintain accurate datasets, modelling documentation, and project records.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related discipline.
- A postgraduate qualification in Transport Planning, Transportation Engineering, or Urban Development is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of transportation planning principles and travel demand analysis.
- Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret traffic surveys, passenger movement data, and transportation statistics.
- Familiarity with transport modelling concepts, including trip generation, trip distribution, mode choice, and traffic assignment.
- Knowledge of GIS applications and spatial data analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and present analytical findings clearly.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience
Ideally, 1–3 years of experience in transport planning, travel demand analysis, traffic engineering, or a related field.
Fresh graduates with relevant academic qualifications, internships, or practical project experience may also be considered.
Experience working with transportation datasets, traffic surveys, or travel behaviour studies is desirable.
Familiarity with transport modelling software such as PTV Visum, VISUM, VISSIM, SATURN, or similar applications is an advantage.
Previous exposure to GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS will be beneficial.
Experience supporting transport assessments, infrastructure studies, or mobility planning projects is preferred.
Working Hours
Full-time position with standard working hours.
Typical working schedule: Monday to Friday.
Flexible working arrangements may be available depending on project requirements and organisational policies.
Occasional additional hours may be required to meet important project deadlines.
Remote or hybrid working opportunities may be considered where operationally suitable.
Candidates should be comfortable participating in project meetings, technical discussions, and collaborative planning activities.
