Fresh Start are working on behalf of their long-standing client to recruit an experienced HSE Manager. Our client is a profitable and growing global business, thriving within the industry. The role supports the Group HSE systems and participates in audits at all sites. The aim is to work within a framework of continuous improvement in HSE to provide a value-added service that is both efficient and effective.
Daily responsibilities:
- HSE system management, compliance and legislation updates.
- Assessments and compliance (all areas).
- Liaising and working with legal bodies (Health & Safety Executive, Environmental Agency, etc).
- HSE Group Audits.
- Facilitating HSE behaviour.
- HSE Contracts – supervision, service and budget control.
- Fire safety and liaison with insurers.
- Employer’s liability responsibility for UK sites.
- Internal training and certification to procedural standards.
- Promoting safety culture.
- Conduct safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective actions and follow-up assessment.
- Provide project management team with guidance on H&S, confirming projects fulfil industry, local manuals, internal procedures & regulations.
- Preparing and filing reports for accidents and other safety events.
- Carry out risk assessments prior to new projects.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- A good level of general education.
- Experience in Health and Safety in a hands-on manufacturing role.
- Health and Safety qualification to NEBOSH Certificate level or equivalent.
- Experience of training and coaching people.
- Understand the behavioural aspects of HSE.
- Willing and able to maintain CPD for HSE.
- Risk assessment management.
- Excellent organisation skills with attention to detail.
- Sound interpersonal approach.
- Enhanced interview skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with other teams to ensure the sites HSE objectives are met.
- Capable of setting HSE business objectives.
- Capable of managing and co-ordinating incidents effectively (e.g. Fires, major incidents, etc).
- Able to work under pressure and achieve target deadlines.
- Analytical and numerate.
- Computer literate.
- Capable and willing to promote a continuous Improvement culture.
