Our client near Alfreton, Derbyshire is going through a significant period of growth and is looking for a Fleet Coordinator to provide daily support to the efficient running of the Fleet department. As a Fleet Coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating all information databases providing support to the Fleet Engineer. You will ensure all maintenance of our HGV fleet is up to date by booking our vehicles in for MOTs, servicing, brake testing and other general upkeep maintenance in a timely manner while keeping accurate records of all maintenance activities for internal and external auditing purposes.
Fleet Coordinator Key Responsibilities
- Plan daily fleet maintenance to ensure efficiency, balancing compliance, costs, resources, and customer needs.
- Keep planning systems accurate and up to date with all operational changes.
- Manage changes to operational requirements and understand their impact on cost and resources.
- Produce clear short-term and forward-looking fleet plans.
- Identify potential issues early and put practical solutions in place to maintain service levels.
- Support vehicle servicing schedules, MOTs, documentation, and compliance activities.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of UK and European transport rules and best practice.
- Work with Fleet and Compliance Managers to arrange Irish fleet repatriation for MOT when needed.
- Identify and report cost or resourcing issues and provide cost-effective solutions.
- Work with an awareness of budgets, margins, and profit and loss.
- Communicate clearly with operational teams and internal stakeholders.
- Escalate risks, delays, or compliance concerns promptly.
Fleet Coordinator Specification
- CPC and International CPC (Desirable).
- Previous experience working within a third-party haulage or logistics environment.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK and European driver compliance rules and transport regulations.
- Experience working in a cost-driven organisation with practical knowledge of budgeting and cost control.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with an excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
- GCSE Maths at Grade C / Level 4 or above.
- Previous experience supporting fleet servicing schedules, MOT planning, and vehicle documentation.
