Many of our students with SEMH needs or SEN have faced challenges that have left them feeling discouraged or disconnected from education. Every child deserves someone who won’t give up on them - could that be you? We’re looking for proactive and person-centered education professionals to plan and deliver personalised learning sessions that spark curiosity, confidence and a sense of hope for our children who are out of mainstream education. You’ll have the opportunity and freedom to deliver learning in the way that you feel best meets the student’s needs. This role offers a genuine opportunity to make a lasting, positive difference.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing 1:1 or 2:1 support to children and young people in their homes or a suitable public setting
- Delivering personalised, creative sessions that reflect each learner’s needs, interests and abilities
- Monitoring and reporting on student progress after each session and setting clear, achievable targets to support ongoing development
- Conducting risk assessments and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
- Working flexibly (on a bank staff contract) and term-time only, with sessions typically lasting 3 to 5 hours during the school day
Who we’re looking for
- Education professionals with at least one year experience supporting children with SEN and SEMH needs, including challenging behaviours and sensory needs
- Those with a background in Primary, Secondary and Post 16 teaching, or specialist SEND environments (experience with Makaton, PECS and behaviour support is an advantage)
- Professionals with experience or interest in working with students with SEN and SEMH needs, including Autism, communication needs and learning difficulties.
- Individuals with a minimum of 2 consistent weekdays of availability
- Professionals with up-to-date understanding of safeguarding and child protection
