Fresh People are recruiting for a well‑established manufacturing business based in Aylesham, Kent, operating within a fast‑paced FMCG environment. Due to continued growth and operational demand, a Multi‑Skilled Engineer is required to join the team on a full‑time, permanent basis. This is a key role within the business, responsible for supporting site performance through effective maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement.
The Role
As a Multi‑Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and supporting engineering projects across the site. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and contributing to overall site efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across machinery and equipment
- Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs efficiently
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment
- Work on electrical systems including control circuits, PLCs, and VSDs
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring issues
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
- Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external contractors
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site
Shift Pattern
28‑day continental rotation—14 days on /14 days off (3 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 3 nights, 4 off) 12‑hour shifts—6am‑6pm / 6pm‑6am
About You
- NVQ Level 3+ in Engineering or completed apprenticeship (or equivalent experience)
- Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Proven fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Good communication skills with the ability to work across all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive approach with a strong work ethic
- Good understanding of health and safety standards
