Fresh People are recruiting for a well-established manufacturing business based in Aylesham, Kent, operating within a fast-paced FMCG environment. Due to continued growth and operational demand, a Multi-Skilled Engineer is required to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key role within the business, responsible for supporting site performance through effective maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and supporting engineering projects across the site. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and contributing to overall site efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across machinery and equipment
  • Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete repairs efficiently
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of equipment
  • Work on electrical systems including control circuits, PLCs, and VSDs
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve recurring issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times
  • Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external contractors
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site

Shift Pattern

  • 28-day continental rotation – 14 days on / 14 days off (3 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 days, 3 nights, 4 off)
  • 12-hour shifts – 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am

About You

  • NVQ Level 3+ in Engineering or completed apprenticeship (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
  • Proven fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work across all levels
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive approach with a strong work ethic
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices
