Financial Assistant

Canterbury| Full-time | Office Based

Fresh People are recruiting for an experienced Financial Assistant to join a well-established and growing professional services business based in Canterbury preferably qualified.

Working as part of a busy Treasury and Finance function, this is a varied hands-on role supporting the Partners and wider team across day-to-day financial transactions, reconciliations, management accounts and payment processes.

The Candidate

We are looking for someone with practical finance/accounts experience who is confident working in a busy, deadline-driven environment.

You should ideally have:

  • AAT /ACA qualification or equivalent practical accounting experience.
  • A minimum of 12 months' experience within a finance or accounts-based role.
  • Previous experience using accounting software, ideally QuickBooks and/or Xero.
  • Experience of bank reconciliations and transactional finance.
  • Good understanding of accounts payable and receivable.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
  • A professional, discreet and confidential approach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated and organised working style.

Experience within an accountancy practice, professional services business or treasury environment would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing regular bank reconciliations and associated transactions.
  • Posting financial transactions using QuickBooks and Xero.
  • Supporting month-end management accounts, including journals.
  • Managing day-to-day financial transactions.
  • Preparing invoices and processing accounts payable and receivable.
  • Preparing and completing payment runs.
  • Submitting BACS transactions.
  • Supporting Treasury Partners with cost control and budget monitoring.
  • Assisting with the organisation and workload of the Treasury team.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records, files and supporting documentation. xgikmsk
