Fresh People are delighted to be supporting a highly respected and growing accountancy and advisory practice with the appointment of an Ethics & Compliance Manager. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced compliance professional, ideally from a legal, regulatory or professional services background, to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the firm's ethical standards, regulatory obligations and professional reputation. Working closely with the Ethics, AML and Audit Partners, you will provide expert guidance on ethical matters, risk management, conflicts of interest, complaints handling, regulatory compliance and professional standards across the firm.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing guidance on ethical and professional conduct matters across the firm
  • Managing conflicts of interest and ensuring appropriate documentation and escalation
  • Handling client complaints and supporting effective dispute resolution
  • Advising on engagement risk, professional obligations and compliance matters
  • Liaising with professional regulators, including ICAEW and other regulatory bodies
  • Supporting regulatory inspections, enquiries and compliance reviews
  • Managing professional indemnity insurance records and claims processes
  • Reviewing contracts and advising on contractual and commercial risk
  • Applying FRC Ethical Standards and the IESBA Code of Ethics
  • Supporting Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance obligations
  • Maintaining accurate compliance records, policies and reporting frameworks
  • Supporting grievance, disciplinary and other sensitive internal matters where required

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience within a legal, compliance, risk, regulatory or professional services environment
  • Strong understanding of ethical standards, governance and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing complaints, disputes, investigations or sensitive matters
  • Knowledge of AML regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent judgement and the ability to interpret complex situations and risks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A professional, objective and solutions-focused approach
  • Experience liaising with regulators, professional bodies or legal advisors would be advantageous
