Fresh People are recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a growing business operating within the construction, commercial interiors, refurbishment and fit-out sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware Estimator who can prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates, review project requirements, manage tender submissions and support the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of projects.
The position would suit someone with proven UK construction or fit-out estimating experience who is confident reviewing drawings, specifications and client requirements while working closely with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams.
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and client requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Producing detailed tender documentation, cost breakdowns and pricing submissions.
- Preparing project cost plans and budgets during the pre-construction phase.
- Sourcing and negotiating prices with suppliers, subcontractors and vendors.
- Identifying project risks, constraints and potential commercial opportunities.
- Monitoring material prices, labour costs and market trends to maintain accurate cost data.
- Liaising with project managers, architects, engineers, clients and procurement teams.
- Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.
- Maintaining accurate records of quotations, estimates and project budgets.
- Supporting the handover of secured projects to the delivery team.
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the UK construction, refurbishment or fit-out sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and supplier markets.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings and preparing detailed pricing submissions.
- Confidence liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A clean UK driving licence.
- Experience using estimating software and tools such as Causeway, Bluebeam and Excel would be beneficial.
- A relevant qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline would be advantageous, although strong practical estimating experience is equally valued.
- Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB and familiarity with BIM or digital estimating tools would also be desirable.
