Fresh People are currently recruiting for an Estimator on behalf of a growing projects business operating across construction, commercial interiors, refurbishment, and specialist building services. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join a collaborative and commercially focused team, playing a key role in the successful pricing and delivery of a diverse range of projects. The business delivers end-to-end project solutions, combining construction expertise with strong project management, quality, compliance, and client service.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions, ensuring projects are competitively priced whilst maintaining commercial viability and profitability. Working closely with project delivery, procurement teams, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will play a vital role in supporting projects from pre-construction through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates from drawings, specifications, and client requirements
- Produce competitive tender submissions and pricing schedules
- Source and negotiate costs with suppliers and subcontractors
- Develop cost plans and project budgets during pre-construction
- Review project risks, opportunities, and commercial considerations
- Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where required
- Work closely with project and procurement teams to support successful project delivery
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases
- Monitor market trends, labour costs, and material pricing
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as an Estimator within construction, fit-out, refurbishment, or interiors
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures
- Experience preparing tenders and detailed cost estimates
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
- Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
Desirable
- Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related qualification
- Experience using estimating software such as Causeway, Bluebeam, or similar
- Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB
