Plantsperson - Tropical Plants

Our longstanding Berkshire-based client is seeking a plantsperson to join their existing team at their 18 acre nursery.

The company provides plants and props to the film, television and events industry. They are looking for a hard-working individual to join their team of enthusiastic and successful horticulturalists. You will need a keen interest in Tropical, Indigenous and Mediterranean plants and a desire to learn and develop your knowledge in this area.

Duties will include:

• watering, pruning, weeding, potting and general maintenance of containerised stock
• maintenance of irrigation systems
• maintenance of greenhouse systems
• fertilisation
• pest control
• growing of specific crops for productions
• general nursery duties including maintaining a level of presentation and cleanliness in a fast moving site with high turnover of stock leaving and returning to site

Horticulture focused qualification Physically fit and strong Practical minded Meticulous in attention to detail \’can do\’ attitude Self motivated Work under pressure Experience working with crops in a nursery environment Familiarity with modern greenhouse technology and systems Knowledge of pest and disease identification and control methods Understanding of fertilization requirements for containerized specimen plants

Ideally:

• PA1/ PA6
• Familiarity or qualification in the use of nursery machinery (tractor/telehandler)
• Drivers licence and own vehicle due to the location of the nursery

Hours of work:

• Full time: Mon-Fri, 07:00 – 16:30
