Our clients is looking to take on a Caretaker at their static residential site in Surbiton. It is a part time role of 20 hours per week (8am -12pm – 4 days) with an immediate start.

You will need to be personable, amenable and a collaborative person. Teamwork with the two gardeners on site is an absolute must. You will report to the lead gardener on site on a day-to-day basis, but line management will remain the maintenance director at HQ.
Responsiblities included:
Daily
To remove litter from roads paths and flower beds
To check for any signs of graffiti and remove or report major problems to the Managing Agent
To report any damage caused by vandalism immediately to the Managing Agent
To remove any children’s chalk ‘artwork’ from pavements and if on private driveways advise the Managing Agent
To issue a warning notice to cars which do not display a valid parking permit or are inappropriately parked and keep a log of transgressors
To report persistent parking offenders to the Managing Agent for further action
To ensure that paths and communal gardens are kept clear of dog excrement.
To report immediately any transgressions related to restrictive covenants such as building works, erection of ‘For Sale’ boards and satellite dishes on the front of properties to the Managing Agent.
To ensure that rubbish from apartments is not left outside their bin compounds.
To ensure that rubbish is not left outside properties unless on dedicated collection days.
Routinely
To clear leaves and other debris from roadside gutters and pathways. (Mechanical sweeper which is owned by the Estate Company)
To sweep and return gravel from roads to pathways
To report any damage to plants or other garden related problems to the Managing Agent
To report any accumulation of weeds on private property driveways to the Managing Agent.
To keep a log of all matters reported to the Managing Agent.
To act, when on duty, as a point of contact and to advise outside contractors carrying out work on behalf of the Estate Company where facilities such as water, meters, pumps, drains etc. may be found.
Other tasks
To check the operation of the fountain, estate lights, sewer pumps gates etc. and to report any faults to the Managing Agent
To ensure that the office is maintained in a tidy condition and locked when not in use.
To alter the time clock on the fountain as required.
To spread anti icing material – salt, grit or similar to paths, steps etc. when required.
To deliver Newsletters or circulars as required by the Managing Agent.
To report any unauthorised personnel on site to the Managing Agent or Police as appropriate.
To rake gravel to discourage weeds from taking root and to remove any accumulation of weeds.
To clear flower beds of leaves and weeds.
To water plants and grass areas as directed.
To carry out any other duty, appropriate to their role, as required by Managing Agent
To keep a personal daily diary of caretaker’s work carried out including daily arrival and departure times.
To read all Estate meters, if any, on the first day of the month and send readings to the Managing Agent
Apartments
To check daily, hallways of each block of apartments and likewise underground parking areas for all damage, defects, leaks and other unusual occurrences and report them immediately to the Managing Agent
To tidy the inside of the bin compounds and spray disinfectant in the bins as required
To clear leaves and any other debris from underground parking areas as necessary (Mechanical sweeper provided)
To advise the Managing Agent when there is ever a build-up of cardboard waste (Individual residents’ responsibility for disposal)
·To replace defective light bulbs in hallways as required
To complete other tasks, minor repairs and day-to-day tidying, as authorised by the Managing Agent
To read all apartment meters on the first day of the month and send readings to the Managing Agent.
To enable access to the apartments when called upon to do so by the Managing Agent
To keep underground parking areas clear of flammable material and report any problems to the Managing Agent
To give access to any contractor employed by the Apartment Company carrying out any work to the communal areas of the apartment blocks
