If this is you, then Brian Jackson College has an opening for a full-time Motor Vehicle Teacher to work in our Post 16 Provision in Heckmondwike.
This position will suit professionals who have a passion for supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health, helping them to improve their career paths. The right person must be flexible in their delivery of teaching methods and have the ambition to be creative, demonstrating initiative. Main Activities:
- Teach and assess students in the assigned subject area, through instruction, problem solving and practical tasks.
- Design and create an engaging and innovative teaching programme, with high-quality resources and thorough documentation.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local employers to develop workplace opportunities or possibly to place students at worksites.
Admin:
- Prepare and maintain all records and reports related to assessment, attendance, progress and activities.
- Support arrangements for public examinations or accreditations, and pupil assessments.
Compliance/Health and Safety:
- Ensure all risk assessments within your vocational area of expertise are reviewed and updated as necessary.
- Complete and document all Health and Safety checks within your vocational area of expertise.
Finance:
- Compile the budget for material expenditure in your vocational area of expertise.
Safeguarding Duties and Responsibilities:
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The following duties are expected of all staff:
- Proactively ensuring the effective implementation of Child Protection and other related policies.
- Ensuring full compliance with all relevant statutory regulations as well as all school policies, Health & Safety regulations etc.
- Communicating safeguarding concerns effectively with all relevant stakeholders including colleagues, students, parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
Knowledge, Training and Experience Required:
- Relevant Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance/Repair or equivalent.
- Relevant teaching qualification or willingness to work towards completing one within two years.
- Experience of teaching and assessing young people aged 13-18.
- Budget management.
