The Role: Healthcare Assistant
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:
- Attend 45-minute (minimum) patient visits.
- Offer personal care, including meals, personal hygiene, rehabilitation support and overall reassurance and safety.
- Monitor and record observations, complete risk assessments and escalate as appropriate.
- Collect and transport clinical specimens.
- Observe pressure areas and skin integrity, and report changes to a qualified nurse.
- Opportunity for gaining additional skills such as venepuncture or rehabilitation support.
KGH At Home is a virtual ward for Kettering General Hospital; the team is made up of healthcare support workers, registered nurses, and physiotherapists. You will be caring for patients in their own homes following discharge from KGH and completing various visit types autonomously with 24/7 on-call support. Shifts are Mon - Sun between the hours of 0700 - 2200.
About You
Alongside a relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification and potential NHS experience, you’ll have the confidence to work autonomously in the community and share our commitment to delivering quality patient care. Compassionate and collaborative, you’ll bring with you strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with patients, carers, and colleagues alike.
