Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Finance Manager for a busy well-established Freight company based in the Hayes, Middlesex area.
Privately-owned specialist in Logistics and freight forwarding, excelling in worldwide, time-critical logistics solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, ensuring sound financial management and strategic planning. This position requires strong managerial abilities and a deep understanding of financial accounting principles to drive the company’s financial success.
Responsibilities:
- Action day-to-day transactions including bank account and company credit/debit card reconciliations, the processing of staff expenses, verifying balances and rectifying discrepancies across the Company's multi-company profile.
- Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including accounts payable as first line approval for supplier payments, ensuring that the payment schedule is robust, efficient, and free from errors.
- Collect outstanding payments from Customers, performing contras, and establishing policies and cost control measures to ensure timely payment.
- Develop and maintain an effective control environment to limit any risks and exposure.
- Measure company financial performance against business plans, including P&L and various assets.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Balance sheet preparation, journal entries, analyse accounts and support the month end processes ensuring management accounts can be produced on time.
- Assist colleagues with complex billing when required.
- Work closely with Senior Managers to manage our invoice query process and prompt sales billing.
- Lead and mentor the Finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Attend weekly UK and USA Operations teams meetings building strong relationships with colleagues. Produce a weekly accrued list from system to support management accounts. Send weekly unbilled reports to the UK and USA Operations teams and chase for resolutions. Collaborate on projects with Senior Managers across the business. Perform monthly Payroll submission and reconciliation. Prepare and provide data to external auditors for the annual audit. Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards while implementing best practices in financial management. Provide meaningful and insightful reporting for management review.
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience:
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
- Experience working with multiple currencies.
- Experience managing a small team.
- Experience of using freight software.
- Xero experience.
- Advance MS Excel skills.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure with competing deadlines.
- Strong time management skills.
- Experience working with highly confidential information that cannot be disclosed.
