Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Customs Brokerage Coordinator for a worldwide Freight Forwarder based in the Feltham, Middlesex area.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Co-ordinator to join a growing customs team. This is an office-based role primarily focused on managing customs clearance for road freight imports, with some responsibility for ocean freight shipments. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of UK import customs procedures, be confident in handling customs entries from start to finish, and possess excellent attention to detail to ensure compliance with all HMRC and Border Force requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit import customs declarations for predominantly road freight shipments, with occasional ocean freight consignments.
  • Ensure all customs entries are completed accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Process CDS import declarations using ASM Sequoia.
  • Complete and manage IPAFFS notifications for applicable consignments.
  • Liaise with customers, transport operators, ports, carriers and government agencies to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
  • Verify commercial documentation including invoices, packing lists and transport documents.
  • Ensure correct tariff classifications, customs procedures, valuation and origin requirements are applied.
  • Monitor customs clearances and proactively resolve any delays or customs queries.
  • Maintain accurate customs records in accordance with HMRC compliance requirements.
  • Keep up to date with changes to customs legislation and import procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service by keeping clients informed throughout the clearance process.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working in a UK customs brokerage environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK import customs procedures.
  • Experience processing predominantly road freight import customs entries.
  • Some experience handling ocean freight import clearances.
  • Proven experience using ASM Sequoia for CDS customs declarations.
  • Good working knowledge of IPAFFS and completing import notifications.
  • Excellent understanding of customs documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple shipments.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
