Freightserve recruitment are looking for a Transport Assistant to work part-time for a well-established Freight Forwarder based in the Colnbrook, Berkshire area.
Job Overview
The Transport Controller is responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organization.
This includes managing drivers, expenditure, organizing schedules & routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Control drivers for Delivery and Collection expectations.
- To monitor services and report any issues accordingly.
- Ensure drivers are in correct uniform and identifiable with relevant passes, report any failures to the Transport Manager
- Answer telephones
- Communicate with the Customer Service Team
- Monitor emails
- Communicate with the Operations Team
- Contact customers to confirm collection/deliveries.
- Communicate with Subcontractors
- UK Tracking.
Qualifications/Skills
- Excellent knowledge of London
- Excellent communication skills, together with a professional and helpful attitude
- Possess strong computer skills and experience in using Microsoft Office.
- An understanding of office administration systems and the ability to work accurately to these systems.
- An experienced team worker and can work unsupervised on own initiative at times.
- Ability to manage own workload and time daily to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
- Experience of working to tight deadlines
- Able to react quickly to information, helping solve any challenges to routes
- Able to remain calm and focused under time pressure
- Able to solve problems independently and with confidence
- Able to communicate effectively especially by email and phone
- Has a logical and methodical approach to all tasks
- literate including warehouse software and Microsoft packages
- Experience using in-house transport management systems is an advantage
- Experienced in dealing with the public, ideally through a customer relations role or another similar customer focused position.
- Strong organizational skills to demonstrate planning your time and your workload effectively, with an ability to meet deadlines.
- Working Hours are Monday - Friday 11am to 3pm
