Technical Engineering Manager
Location: Crewe
Who are we looking for?
Freightliner Ltd is creating a new team at our locomotive depot in Crewe to deliver real quality to our maintenance function. We are currently looking for a Technical Engineering Manager to create and develop this new team who will own and develop our remote condition monitoring systems. The aim is to optimise maintenance practices, drive performance, improve maintenance quality through their team of technical engineers and fitters, and develop initiatives to improve reliability of our locomotive fleet. The position is based at our depot in Crewe reporting to the Fleet Manager.
On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:
- Commitment to developing safe working practices.
- In depth knowledge and experience of a heavy maintenance industry.
- Experience in a Condition‑Based Maintenance and/or a Reliability‑Centred Maintenance Environment.
- Ability to drive Continuous Improvement to ensure we are always learning and improving.
What your main areas of responsibilities will be:
- Being a safety influencer by ensuring you and your team work safely at all times whilst always looking for opportunities to do things safer and more efficiently.
- Own our RCM system for locomotives to develop the data to create an enhanced condition‑based maintenance approach across the fleet.
- Grow the RCM system to monitor the live performance of our locomotives through trend analysis to prevent in‑service failures.
- Influence reliability improvements by analysing RCM data trends and collaborating with the Engineering function.
- Develop your team to conduct investigations into incidents, failures, and defects, producing detailed reports for learning points and opportunities to improve.
- Develop fault‑finding guides for Maintenance and Operations staff (including Drivers) to help reduce locomotive downtime.
- 2nd line on call response as part of the engineering roster.
