Materials Controller
Freightliner Maintenance Ltd – Crewe VMF
Salary: £28,015 p/a rising to £29,539 p/a upon completion of successful probation.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Freightliner Maintenance Ltd for an experienced Materials Controller to be based at our Crewe Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Reporting to the Stores Manager, the successful applicant will join the Stores team at Crewe VMF and will assist with the day‑to‑day running of the Stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing goods inwards and storing materials correctly, raising requisitions, preparing material to ship for overhaul, loading/unloading vehicles, stock counting, issuing material, raising orders and expediting orders.
- Monitoring the utilisation of materials on site.
- Ensuring housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard to improve efficiency and safety at all times.
- Liaising with the Stores Manager and production teams across Freightliner sites as required.
- Adhering to internal procedures.
Key Qualifications
- A commitment to safe working practices.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of materials control, purchase order processing and logistics.
- At least 2 years’ experience within the following roles: Materials Controller or Logistics Coordinator.
- Good understanding of material procurement/purchasing processes.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Enthusiasm and self‑starter attitude.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Effective communication at all levels.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft software packages.
- Knowledge of budgets and ability to work within them.
Due to the physical aspects of this role, such as receiving delivery of materials, a Forklift Truck qualification is essential. Telehandler or overhead crane operating experience would be an advantage.
A flexible approach to working hours is essential as Crewe VMF operates 24/7.
