Freightliner Group is looking for a Group Insurance and Claims Manager to join our Birmingham team on a full-time permanent basis. As the Group Insurance and Claims Manager at Freightliner Group, you will lead the insurance programme for the UK and Europe covering all insurable risk across our activities to ensure effective and efficient insurance processes. This will include liaising with external suppliers including solicitors, loss adjusters and subject matter experts. You will spearhead the identification and development of insurance strategies for new business opportunities. Your role involves driving ongoing enhancements to the claims process to optimise efficiency and minimise claims expenses for Freightliner Group.
Responsibilities include:
- Analysing the financial impact of business risk, and reducing the total cost of risk by mitigating loss and protecting assets through the management of insurance, loss prevention, contractual risk transfer and claims management.
- Ensuring that the team adeptly handles the claims process, keeping key stakeholders informed and ensuring timely completion of necessary actions.
- Maximising and recovering all monies due to the company arising from material loss without undue delay.
- Working closely with our brokers, senior management team, loss adjusters and our insurers to ensure that all departments are aware of the insurance implications of their activities.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead the insurance renewal programme for the Freightliner Group.
- Responsible for managing the insurance claims function for all insurance claims (insured and uninsured) and associated queries.
- Managing and coaching one direct report (Claims Adjustor).
- Close liaison with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors, brokers, claimants and/or their representatives.
- Negotiation of the settlement of all the organisation’s claims, across all lines of business.
- Maintaining the claims/loss recording system and developing information with reference to business requirements.
- Provision of professional advice to senior management and departments of the business on all aspects of insurance practice and law, including preparation of reports and advice notes as required.
- Collaborating with Legal and Commercial Bid Management teams to review contracts, provide guidance and offer strategic insurance solutions for new growth opportunities.
- Working closely with the HSSE team and Senior Management teams to identify potential claims.
- Keep abreast of industry developments alerting management as required.
- Partnering with the development of the Safety Function, particularly by promoting awareness of the importance and benefits of working safely.
- As required, effecting training/briefing sessions for staff at all levels.
- Monitor effectiveness of all programs including audit insurers of claims handling.
- Provision of monthly and quarterly reports in line with internal audit requirements.
- Liaison with internal and external auditors.
- Partner and support colleagues with future plans for enterprise risk management.
Key Job Requirements:
- Able to communicate effectively in good clear language with Brokers, claimants and their representatives, insurers, loss adjustors and colleagues.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Legal knowledge in insurance and claims law.
- Experience in handling various claim types including Public Liability, Motor, Employer’s Liability, Property (Rolling stock and Static Property), and Recovery.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; CS Stars experience is a benefit.
- Knowledge of relevant Statutory duties.
- Clean Full driving License.
- Willingness to travel/Overnight stays where required.
