We move 17 million tonnes of freight a year for customers in the industrial, energy and construction markets. The company operates 95 locomotives and over 1000 wagons. HHR’s team of 950 supports customer deliveries to over 100 locations across the UK, running 250 trains per week. HHR also supports the renewal and maintenance of the rail infrastructure and supports passenger train operators and rolling stock companies, including the provision of drivers and route conducting services.
The Purpose of Your Role: Overall, every person working for HHR should align with HHR’s vision: “To become the UK’s most progressive and powerful rail freight partner”. This role is pivotal in delivering smarter, cleaner, and more connected freight solutions, embodying our values:
- Responsible for delivery and development of the Rail technology roadmap
- Responsible for presentation of vendor/industry roadmaps to management teams, agreeing corresponding HHR technology roadmaps
- Manage the translation of future business requirements documentation into solution documents with internal departments and vendors
- Manage defect and issues to completion
- Escalation point for support issues
- Responsible for ensuring support is always available as appropriate
- Responsible for coordinating compliance responsibilities
- Responsible for developing solutions for operational issues using the existing technology estate
- Improving via training or documentation support cycle
- Provide subject matter expertise to both operations and planning teams as necessary, supporting the departments with any reasonable assistance that is required, dependent on current duties
- Support the operations director as required
- Provide support, specifically that from an operational nature to other departments within the business as necessary using current and historic knowledge
- Follow HS&E procedures to ensure safe working practices, prevent pollution, minimise impacts, maintain competence, and report incidents
3+ years of experience of running multiple complex projects including risk management, action and KPI tracking. Experience in implementing complex IT projects including working with business stakeholders to capture full system benefits. Ability to break down complex problems using frameworks and prioritise action and approach accordingly. Ability to deliver through others. Experience in logistics/supply chain is desirable. Strong people and stakeholder management skills. Strong presentation skills with the ability to distil and present complex issues to senior stakeholders. Exhibits and lives Heavy Haul Rail’s values.
