About the Role

We are looking for a driven and commercially focused Freight Forwarding Business Development Manager to join my client's growing team. This role is responsible for achieving sales targets through a combination of new business generation and development of existing accounts. You will play a key role in building strong client relationships, identifying opportunities, and promoting a broad range of multimodal services. Selling and promoting freight forwarding services, mainly sea freight services, across the north of the UK, from North Birmingham up to Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated freight sales professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys delivering tailored solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and develop relationships with new, lapsed, and existing clients
  • Conduct face‑to‑face meetings to understand client needs and present tailored solutions
  • Achieve agreed sales targets including revenue, pipeline, and activity levels
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of customer opportunities
  • Keep client records accurate and up to date within the CRM system
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments
  • Promote new service offerings to clients
  • Support improvements to the overall client journey and experience
  • Assist with client entertainment and relationship‑building activities when required
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested

Skills & Experience

  • Strong Sea freight forwarding sales experience
  • Strong sales and customer service skills with the ability to build relationships across cultures and countries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident presenter with the ability to deliver compelling solutions
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Highly organised with strong time management
  • Experience using CRM systems
  • Knowledge of supplier services and changing market conditions
  • Understanding of multimodal service offerings (desirable)
