Our client is a logistics company specialising in temperature-controlled distribution, Sameday, Next day, storage and third party logistics nationwide. We are now recruiting an Operations Controller to join a team of 3 to plan and allocate logistics movements on a national basis.
The successful applicant will manage a mixed fleet of 12 vehicles, with the 25 employed drivers plus managing sub-contractors with external hauliers. Operating a 24/7 day a week service, core hours are Monday to Friday 8-5 with on call rota every 2nd weekend.
Daily duties include:
- Taking incoming telephone and email bookings from clients
- Managing and allocating work to drivers
- Allocating the correct and most cost-efficient vehicle from the fleet
- Assigning jobs to sub-contractors and management from start to finish
- Liaising with haulage subcontractors daily to ensure service requirements are met
- Ensuring all planning duties are completed each day
- Monitoring and recommending improvements in the traffic office
- Seeing all jobs through to completion
In order to apply you will have:
- Experience of working in a busy traffic office, allocating work
- Same day/ next day experience
- Experience of dealing and allocating work to drivers
- Ideally have used Mandata or another Transport Management platform
- Ideally have handled minor vehicle checks
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service
