Our client is a well-established European trailer, international transport operator and Freight forwarder, a market leader in the provision of European logistics services to a large number of very substantial manufacturers, importers, and exporters both in the UK and in Europe.
Your role will involve:
- Recruitment and induction of new Class 1 drivers.
- Manage and mentor a team of 46 HGV drivers.
- Allocate work to the driving staff, noting working hours and available resources.
- Conducting Driver disciplinaries where required and enforcing high standards of driver behaviour.
- Instigating training plans for under achieving driving staff with clear objectives and timelines.
- To support and assist where required the Site & Warehouse Manager.
- Working closely with Operations staff allocating and maximising driver resources.
- To thoroughly investigate any issues of damage, be it own or 3rd party, assessing driver behaviour and initiating improvements.
- Collating information from driver time sheets, reviewing bonus and overtime payments.
- Building an excellent working relationship with our on-site Workshop, monitoring repairs. Ensuring that Tractor Units and Trailers are available for PMI/ MOT.
- Negotiating with Suppliers for provision of Driver consumables and ensuring that all Drivers have the equipment required to fulfil their duties.
- Reviewing and issuing documentation to Drivers and having a good understanding of customs processes, post Brexit, training will also be provided.
- Covering for the Site & Warehouse Manager when absent or on holiday.
The successful candidate must have:
- UK or European Transport Management experience.
- UK and International CPC.
- To have held a Class 1 Licence.
- Excellent communication skills (Written & Verbal).
- A confident personality with a can do attitude.
- A professional positive and helpful attitude.
- Numerate and literate, it is vital that the successful candidate is able to explain complex logistical issues concisely in both written and verbal form.
- IT literate.
- Ambitious with a desire to succeed.
- Strong organisational skills with an excellent memory.
Package and Benefits:
- Salary Circa £50,000/£60,000.
- 22 days Holiday plus Bank Holidays.
- Pension.
- Hours - Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm with the successful candidate expected to work 1 Saturday morning in 3.
