Our client is a leading Freight European Logistics provider. We are now looking for a Customs Compliance Administrator to work alongside the Customs Compliance Team Leader. Joining the growing customs compliance team, you will support the operation and client base when navigating any customs related challenges. The ideal candidate needs the tenacity to get a job done properly, an appetite for learning and an ability to explain complex topics. For the successful candidate, this position will develop into a long term commercially orientated technical and advisory role.

Job details

  • Develop a deep understanding of the model of Customs requirements for UK Exports to the EU and UK Imports from the EU.
  • Understanding the road transport logistics model for moving goods to and from mainland Europe via Ferries or Eurotunnel.
  • Familiarity with the types of products we move (general cargo) in both directions.
  • Understanding the buying and selling process i.e. that the seller has to produce commercial invoices to the buyer. The invoices must state the value, detailed product description with commodity codes and terms of sale i.e. Incoterms.
  • Working with clients in the UK or in Europe mainly by telephone in English and helping to find a resolution to complex customs problems.
  • Supporting the Transport Operations Team to ensure that the relevant information is available to a demanding time schedule.
  • Liaison with our Sales Team to ensure they are aware of the Customs processes and are asking potential new clients for the correct information.

Experience and skills required

  • We believe this position would ideally suit local graduates with an interest in European Business studies and/or politics - ideally combined with a major European language- such as French or German.
  • Highly Computer literate with good working knowledge of current IT packages, including MS Office products - especially Excel.

Package and Benefits

An excellent starting salary £28,250 would be offered to the successful applicant, together with an excellent career opportunity and progression. The hours are Monday - Friday 08:00-17:30 / 07:30-16:30 alternating every week and the role is office based only. There will be a requirement to work a Saturday morning approximately every 6 weeks from 0800hrs to 1100hrs. We offer 22 days plus Bank Holidays.
