Our client is a global freight forwarder, specialising in shipping to Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan. They work with local partners on every continent to offer the best advice and sea freight options available. They are looking to strengthen the Sales department by recruiting an Internal Freight Sales Clerk to join the team at their offices in Bradford. This is a crucial role that contributes directly to the profitability of the company, involving taking customer enquiries, providing quotations, and gaining new business. You will be expected to be proactive in the role and maintain and develop business relationships. Effective communication and close team working are key.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
- To provide accurate, competitive pricing to customers and the external sales team
- To maximise Profit Per Job (PPJ) whilst maintaining a realistic price
- Dealing with customers' queries/enquiries via telephone/email
- Calculate and advise rates to customers & the external sales team
- Provide customers with quotes as requested/required
- Deal with invoice and price disputes
- Work with rate sheets
- Develop and grow long-term relationships with customers and shipping companies
- Price up bookings and monitor and maintain pricing inbox
Experience required:
- Previous experience of working in a commercial environment
- Experience of working in import/export freight forwarding company or other transport/logistics related market
- Excellent customer service and sales skills
- Ability to work to deadlines/targets for self and others
- Strong desire to satisfy customer needs and achieve results
- Proactive and positive attitude
- Active team player
- Good IT skills - with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
Salary and Benefits:
- Salary Β£28,000 - Β£30,000 depending on experience
- Working hours - 9-5:15 flex
- Holidays - 22 days + Bank holidays to start
