We are now recruiting for an ambitious and energetic Freight Forwarding Business Development Manager to further strengthen the UK clientele on a national basis. You will be the front of the Company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy. Based remotely, you will manage the full freight forwarding sales cycle, from assessing customer requirements to managing the relationship, all customer visits to preparing and presenting to a customer in order to make the sale.

You will maintain and develop customer relationships at both a senior and day-to-day levels, creating strategic relationships in order to maximise growth and sales potential. With responsibility for the Sales and Operating Process, generating data to accurately predict both the Monthly sales forecast and the annual budgets. This requires accurate costings, good knowledge of volumes and customer sales forecast and performance.

You will conduct desk research on relevant and potential customers, driving initial contact with them in order to arrange meetings and discuss new business prospects. You will be responsible for maintaining and building up a key contacts database as well as acting as a contact, when necessary, between the company and its existing and potential markets. You will also represent the organisation at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations, negotiating on price, costs, delivery and specifications with buyers and managers.

You will be responsible for reaching the targets and goals set for you as well as the development of sales strategies, including target companies, timeframes and setting of challenging and demanding targets.

Qualifications:
  • You will have a demonstrative sales background gained in freight forwarding with a deep understanding of the freight forwarding industry, current trends, market constraints and the ability to identify gaps in the market and areas of opportunity.
  • Proven sales track record selling multi-modal freight, air, sea, warehousing, multi-modal freight forwarding solutions.
  • Able to work as part of a team and demonstrate team working attributes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills - able to communicate to a variety of different stakeholders.
  • Ability to build rapport.
  • Time management and planning skills.
  • Knowledge of Cargowise CRM would be an advantage.
  • Spoken and written English Language.
  • Excellent level of Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
