The Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Management Accountant to support the finance function of Freight Island.

This role is crucial for ensuring the successful delivery of the financial accounts for the business as we continue to grow.

Reporting into our Head of Finance, this role offers a great opportunity for development within a growing business; with exciting expansion plans in the event & hospitality industry.

Candidates who are meticulous, driven and ambitious will thrive in this role.

A key player in our finance team, you’ll own month end for your site, building strong relationships with General Managers and key stakeholders, cementing yourself as the go to finance contact.

While investigating anomalies and analysing trends, you will be contributing to building a sustainable financial department that is primed and ready to enter a serious period of growth.

Most importantly, you understand how finance drives business decision making in a multifaceted environment that moves at lightning speed.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Accounts payable – Processing Invoices, creating pay runs and reconciling supplier accounts.
  • Accounts receivable – Raising invoices, allocating payments. Assist with client queries.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Managing the development and management of budgets and forecasts.
  • Managing the weekly reporting to the Head of Finance.
  • Managing the weekly payroll, reconciling timesheets and submitting approved shifts.
  • Analysing financial data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
  • Reconciliation and management of stock, to include assisting in the co-ordination of processes by the operations team to ensure accurate inventory control, tracking and maintaining transactions for movements on the stock system.
  • Identification and posting of journals, including payroll journals, prepayments, accruals and deferred income.
  • Any other duties which may be identified.

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified accountant or equivalent, with prior similar experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge in using cloud-based accounting package Xero advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Workspace packages,
  • Previous experience in hospitality industry advantageous.
  • Ability to multi-task, show initiative and work to deadlines.
  • Willingness to assist in adopting processes and recognising possibilities where these could be improved or developed.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and communicate at all levels internally and externally.
