Freight Force Recruitment are working in partnership with an independent and very well-established road haulage company specialising in general freight throughout the UK. We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Transport Planner to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general haulage and hands-on experience using Mandata transport management systems. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimising daily transport operations while ensuring efficiency, compliance, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and schedule vehicle routes for general haulage operations, ensuring cost-effective and timely deliveries
- Utilise Mandata TMS to manage daily transport activities, job allocation, and reporting
- Communicate effectively with drivers and customers to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor vehicle utilisation and driver performance, adjusting as needed
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, including driver hours and health & safety standards
- Handle customer queries, providing updates and resolving delivery issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, routes, and operational data
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
Who we are looking for:
- Proven experience as a Transport Planner within general haulage
- Strong working knowledge of Mandata transport management system
- Excellent geographical knowledge of UK road networks
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of transport compliance and driver hours regulations
