Temporary to Permanent - Class 1 PM Drivers Required - FULL TIME
Freeway is looking for HGV Class 1 PM Drivers who want a full‑time role. Shifts are Sunday to Thursday (5 shifts per week).
Job Description
Our client wants experienced Class 1 PM or Night Drivers who are committed to a full‑time position. The primary role is to ensure national trunk runs are fulfilled, including deliveries and collections to and from national RDCs. No handballing of goods is permitted.
Shift length is usually 8‑9 hours, occasionally 10‑11 hours. The customer works on an average of 45 hours per week, but most full‑time drivers complete about 40 hours per week.
Initially you will work via the Freeway agency for 8 weeks before the full‑time employment contract begins. Minimum 8‑hour pay applies via the agency if a driver works under 8 hours. All drivers are paid for total hours worked minus legal daily driving break. Once full time you will receive salaried pay, paid monthly on a 45‑hour contract.
Class 1 drivers must start shifts between 13:00 and 22:00. Shift start times may change due to business needs. Night runners will start at 19:00 and finish no later than 07:00 the following morning.
Requirements
- Competent with Health & Safety practices and procedures at all times
- Reliable and hold excellent time‑keeping
- Flexible "can do" attitude to work
- Good command of English, written and spoken
- Excellent communication skills
- Keep vehicle clean and tidy at all times
- Excellent geographic knowledge of the UK road network
- Positive attitude and professional work ethic
- Smart appearance, representing Freeway Recruitment and the client
- Check in transport before parking up for the night
Qualifications / Training / Experience
- Valid Class 1 driving licence
- Valid Digital tachograph card
- Valid Driver CPC card
- No more than six points on licence for separate 3‑point offences (no DR/DD/IN driving offences accepted)
- Two work‑checkable references
Pay
PM/Nights:
- £19.00 per hour (holiday accrued)
- £21.29 per hour (holiday paid in advance)
