About the Freeths Private Client Services Team

The Freeths PCS team is 50 strong and spread nationally across our 12 offices. For 15 consecutive years Freeths’ Trusts, Estates and Tax (TET) lawyers have secured a Tier 1 ranking in the UK’s leading legal directory, Chambers and Partners High Net Worth Guide. The East Midlands TET team is led by Partner, Rahul Kotecha, and supported by Director, Marie Cooper, who are both based in our Nottingham office.

About the role

We are looking for two ambitious trainee legal executives to join our growing TET team, with one opportunity based in Nottingham and one in Birmingham. This is an excellent long-term development opportunity for individuals who want to build a legal career, gain hands-on experience and progress towards qualification while contributing to a busy and supportive team.

As a trainee legal executive, you will provide valuable junior support to colleagues across the team while gradually developing fee-earning capability. Working closely with experienced lawyers, you will build practical knowledge and take on increasing responsibility as skills and confidence grow. The Nottingham role will primarily support colleagues based in Nottingham, whilst the Birmingham role will support colleagues across Birmingham and Nottingham.

What you will do:

  • Support lawyers with the effective day-to-day progression of matters.
  • Assist with legal research, drafting, document preparation and file management.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Manage competing priorities and complete work accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Record time and contribute to the team’s fee-earning activity as your experience develops.
  • Take an active role in your learning, training and progression towards qualification.

What we are looking for:

  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in law.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and a willingness to learn.
  • The confidence to take ownership of tasks while asking for guidance when needed.
  • A commitment to delivering a high standard of service.

If you are motivated to learn, keen to take on responsibility and excited by the opportunity to build your legal career within a supportive, growing team, we would welcome your application.
