The Freeths Private Client Dispute Resolution Team (PCDR) is a specialist team handling complex contentious trusts, probate and Court of Protection cases. Partners Mark Keeley and Rachel Gaffney lead the team, bringing over 25 years of experience. The team has been consistently ranked among the top providers in the East Midlands region for the last eight years.

About the Role

The team is looking for a Senior Associate or Managing Associate to join our Leicester or Nottingham office, ideally with at least 2 years PQE in contentious trusts and probate. The role will involve a high level of responsibility, managing other team members and, at times, working independently. Interest and willingness to be involved in business development are encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a consistently high level of client service and care.
  • Exhibit competent financial management and commercial awareness, including accurate time recording, billing, achievement of firm-delivered targets, and WIP management.
  • Actively contribute toward business development opportunities to ensure client retention and business expansion.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise at all times.
  • Accountable for personal development and continuous improvement of interpersonal and soft skills.
  • Undertake work in accordance with SRA competence standards.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Directly relevant experience with the correct level of PQE (2–7 years).
  • Working towards or holding ACTAPS qualification is desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of clients' industry and business.
  • Proven track record of competent financial management, meeting client expectations, and sound case management.
  • Good IT skills, confident use of case management systems, electronic time recording and Microsoft Office.
  • A self-starting, friendly individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates and embodies the firm’s values.
