If you love turning numbers into clear commercial decisions, this could be your next move. Freeths is looking for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to partner with our Private Client Services division, with a reporting line into the Finance function. You’ll work closely with the National Head of Private Client Services and the divisional leadership team, bringing strategic insight, challenge and support across performance, planning and growth. This role has direct visibility with senior stakeholders, so you’ll need sharp attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, decision‑ready outputs. You’ll collaborate across Finance and the wider business (including HR, Marketing, Knowledge Management and Innovation) to help the division deliver its goals. This role can be based from any of our offices nationwide and we offer flexible/agile working.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partner with Private Client Services leadership to improve profitability, working capital and financial efficiency.
  • Lead planning, budgeting and reforecasting across the division; translate strategy into clear financial plans.
  • Turn monthly MI into insight: commentary, root‑cause analysis and recommended actions.
  • Build strong, simple models for initiatives (e.g., lateral hires, promotions, practice or office expansion).
  • Create and present materials for partner and leadership meetings – clear, concise and decision‑focused.
  • Raise financial confidence across the division through coaching, mentoring and practical training.
  • Support wider Commercial Finance and firm‑wide initiatives, including pricing and performance improvement.
  • Stay close to the business by attending divisional/department meetings and maintaining a deep understanding of drivers and priorities.

What you’ll bring

  • ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Experience in commercial finance and/or business partnering – ideally within legal or professional services.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; comfortable building models and telling the story behind the numbers.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to simplify complexity.
  • Confidence to influence and collaborate with partners and senior leaders, with a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and resilience when handling competing priorities.
  • Motivation to grow into (or further develop within) a full Finance Business Partner role.

Why this role

  • High‑impact partnering role with real visibility and influence.
  • Varied, commercially focused work across performance, planning, modelling and stakeholder support.
  • Opportunity to shape how finance supports a growing division – and to develop your own business partnering toolkit.
